Devbhoomi Udyamita Yojana (DUY) is a flagship initiative of the Department of Higher Education, Government of Uttarakhand, implemented by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This visionary scheme not only focuses on its mandated interventions but also places strong emphasis on the development of a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem across the state. The aim is to build a conducive environment that nurtures entrepreneurial talent and fosters sustainable enterprise creation in Uttarakhand.

Key Interventions for Strengthening the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem:

      1. Product Packaging & Branding Support: Startups are provided with guidance and assistance in enhancing product appeal through effective packaging and branding strategies, enabling better market reach and customer engagement.

      2. Enterprise Legalization Support: Entrepreneurs receive support in formalizing their businesses through processes such as registration on Udyam Aadhaar, obtaining FSSAI licenses, and other mandatory compliances essential for running a legitimate enterprise.

      3. Participation in Exhibitions & Events: DUY facilitates the participation of entrepreneurs and startups in prestigious events to showcase their innovations and connect with stakeholders. Key participations include:
      o Global Investors Summit, 2023
      o Science Fest at UCOST, Dehradun
      4. Participation in National Awards: DUY’s efforts have been recognized at the national level, notably securing the Gold Award at the Skoch Awards, underscoring its contribution to entrepreneurship promotion in Uttarakhand.

      5. Startups Onboarding Support: Dedicated assistance is provided for identifying, selecting, and mentoring startups, ensuring they are adequately prepared for incubation, funding opportunities, and sustainable growth.

      6. Strengthening Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) as Incubation Centres: DUY is actively working to develop select HEIs into robust incubation hubs, empowering them to serve as local anchors of entrepreneurial activity and innovation.

      • Startup Vision Document:
            A strategic document that will define the roadmap for Uttarakhand’s startup ecosystem, identifying key focus areas, challenges, and future opportunities.
      • Coffee Table Book on Entrepreneurship in Uttarakhand:
            A comprehensive and visually engaging publication that will document inspiring stories, successful ventures, and entrepreneurial achievements from the region.

Additionally, the Technology Business Incubator (TBI) at EDII will play a pivotal role in guiding and mentoring institutions to establish Business Incubators on selected campuses. These incubators will provide the necessary infrastructure, technical guidance, mentorship, and networking support to aspiring entrepreneurs, helping them transform their innovative ideas into viable and scalable business ventures.

By catalyzing these efforts, Devbhoomi Udyamita Yojana envisions making Uttarakhand a thriving hub of innovation and enterprise, enhancing its innovation index, attracting investors, and driving inclusive, sustainable economic growth across the state.
